Inspection and Test Plan - Template
Use our ITP template to check and verify that the construction works have been done correctly!
An Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) is a document that outlines quality control activities for construction projects.
ITPs are required for all significant construction activities before work begins, and are completed as work is being performed on site.
ITPs should cover each construction activity in the quality lot map, but activities that do not result in a client deliverable (like traffic management) don't need to be included.
If you're involved in construction projects, you may have heard the term Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) before. An ITP is a crucial document that outlines the plan for completing quality control activities for a specific work lot. It provides a list of checks and inspections that ensure a construction activity results in a product that complies with design and technical specifications. Here's what you need to know about ITPs:
ITPs are required for all significant construction activities that result in a deliverable to the client. The project engineer or sub-contractor usually prepares them before work begins, and the client or owner's engineer reviews and signs off on them. Without an approved ITP, work should not commence on-site.
During construction activities, the ITP is completed as work is being performed on-site. All inspections and tests documented should verify that the work is being completed correctly. If there are any failures, Non-Conformance Reports are issued.
ITPs should cover each construction activity identified in the quality lot map. One ITP can cover activities like one concrete foundation pile or section of conduit installation or one structural concrete pour. However, activities like traffic management or service proving that facilitate work but do not result in deliverables do not require an ITP.
By following the ITP, you can ensure that your construction project complies with design and technical specifications, and the resulting product meets quality standards.
